Terms and Conditions (Gift Shop)

The adoption pack is for one person only, therefore we can only put one name on the adoption certificate.

Being an adopter of an animal at Lydford Gorge Alpacas gives no ownership rights over the animal itself.

Adoption packages last for 1 year (12 months) but we will always add on an extra month to the expiry date on the adoption certificate to cover you if giving as a gift at a later date. If you require a different start date then please contact us BEFORE you purchase so that we can advise if that is possible (for example purchasing two months in advance of a birthday) and ensure we put the correct date on the adoption certificate (we will also adjust the validity of the gift voucher to match).

Gift cards can be redeemed online easily and free of charge here. At the checkout you will be asked if you are visiting an adopted animal and which one. We will always do our best to ensure your adopted animal is present at your experience or is available as your trekking partner but we can never guarantee this due to the unlikely event that your animal is not able to 'work' that day (e.g. if he is poorly). The animals are also carefully rotated on treks so that they are not overworked but if your boy is not able to trek with you, there will be time after the trek to spend one on one with your new friend.

All gift vouchers will come with a 13 month validity period - we give you an extra month on the standard 12 month issue to help cover you if giving the adoption pack as a gift and you are purchasing in advance. 

The gift card when purchased as part of the Encounter Package is for either two adults OR 1 adult and 1 child - you just choose the ticket combination you prefer when redeeming. The gift card when purchased as part of the Trekking Package is for one alpaca ticket and one trekking companion - this could be either two adults OR 1 adult and 1 child - you just choose the ticket combination you prefer when redeeming. Children need to be over 12 years of age to attend a trek.

When redeeming, additional tickets can be purchased for the experience if you want to invite more friends along (subject to availability).

Gift cards cannot be exchanged for cash or redeemed past the expiry date.

All other normal ts & cs apply when redeeming gift vouchers.

The birthday surprise sent as an ecard to the email address given for the adopter will be scheduled to be sent when the adopters next birthday falls after 1 month from the purchase date. This is so that the adopter does not receive the ecard before they have received their adoption package when given as a gift. Please contact us if you need us to extend this.

If purchasing for a child (under 18 years) the birthday surprise sent as an ecard will be sent directly to the email address provided for the adopter. The ecard will always be age appropriate but please ensure that you are aware there will be no additional notification given that the ecard has been sent e.g. to the supervising adults email address (unless that email was given as the adopters to receive their ecard to). We cannot be held liable for non receipt of the ecard due to an incorrect email address being given - please ensure you double check all details before clicking on the purchase button.

Note that the fleece samples sent for an alpaca are NOT washed. They have had any organic material removed and alpaca fleece does not contain lanolin. If you are adopting sheep Snowball then his fleece sample will arrive washed and carded. This is because unwashed sheep fleece contains lanolin which can be an irritant to some people's skin
